The Hidden Front hosted a conference September 29, 2007 in North Platte, Nebraska, which included workshops.
The workshops covered the areas of:
Psychological and Physiological Aspects of Combat PTSD by Dr. Sarah Schaffer, Ph.D
Dr. Schaffer got right to the heart of the matter by explaining changes that take place in the brain and the way the body responds to being in such a high stress environment. She also informed us as to how the physical reactions relate to the psychological areas of life.
What the Family Can Do to Help or Intervene by Dr. Lisa Jones, Ph.D. Dr. Jones gave us some ways to approach a family member that is exhibiting strong signs of Combat stress as well as conveying information about what those first signs might be.
Re-adjustment Issues by Cherlyn Wahlgren, M.A., CPC, LMPH. Cheryln gave us insight as to helpful ways we may approach someone just returned from the war zone as well as advising us of things that might be less than helpful to do.
We are so glad for each person that attended these workshops to learn more about the issues our soldiers face on coming back from the war zone.
The Hidden Front would like to thank each person, church and business that helped in any way to make this conference with workshops possible. We especially wish to thank the Veterans of Foreign Wars and The American Legion, in North Platte, for allowing us to use their buildings for this event as well as providing drinks for those that attended.
